
Store Manager
(Bar Harbor, Portland and Brunswick)
The Store Manager is responsible for creating and driving sales while providing
and promoting unsurpassed customer service. The principal responsibility of
the Store Manager is to handle and oversee all the day-to-day processes that
keep a Cool As A Moose store performing at the highest level, including managing
product, staff, morale, display, windows, and the store's overall atmosphere.
This position requires as much time doing as it does managing. Store Managers spend at least as much time on the floor modeling best sales practices as they spend off the floor.
This job is a salaried position. Benefits include medical and dental insurance (cost share with employer), disability insurance, 401(k) profit sharing program, and paid time off.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for sales and "bottom-line" profits of the store. Drive sales from both on and off the floor.
- Provide exceptional customer service and ensure that employees provide same
level of service.
- Create and execute schedules that allow for the appropriate number of staff to be on the floor to meet sales goals while keeping in mind the budget per week for sales floor staff.
- Perform and oversee the day-to-day activities that keep the store open and
running smoothly.
- Assist Regional Manager with hiring, training, evaluating
and coaching sales associates.
- Provide a positive working environment and handle employee issues appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Utilize management tools including scheduling software, sales reports and store evaluation guidelines to maximize productivity, profitability and margins.
- Responsible for keeping the store in a clean, neat, orderly and shop-ready condition.
- Manage store revenue, including cash handling, proper cash register procedure at opening, deposit reconciliation and delivery of deposits to bank.
- Execute and monitor loss prevention and theft programs.
- Ensure store employee understanding and compliance with company polices, including safety and emergency procedures.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- 2 years minimum progressively responsible retail management experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience and education.
- Strong written communication abilities: excellent leadership and human relations
abilities.
- Ability to effectively teach/develop others to next level.
- Good merchandising skills and a flair for conceiving and implementing creative merchandising themes.
- Strong operations experience in receiving, stock and inventory as well as front-end management and office management.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal, motivational, communication and organizational skills in an entrepreneurial setting.
- Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting and changing priorities; flexible.
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently as well as interface with many different clients and teams in different locations.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and the ability to quickly learn programs such as Retail Star, Point of Sale Software and VSS Pro Scheduling software.
- An upbeat demeanor, with a sales and customer service oriented personality.
- Reliable transportation.
- This position requires extended time standing, sitting at a computer terminal, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance, and the willingness to roll up sleeves and get the job done.

Stockroom Manager
(Bar Harbor)
We are looking for a conscientious and energetic person to process incoming merchandise and manage the stockroom in our Bar Harbor location. This is a seasonal position, from approximately March to December.
General responsibilities include:
- Process merchandise for sales floor or warehouse (folding, tagging, organizing)
- Receive shipped merchandise; report any errors in quantities or quality
- Pull and restock inventory for sales floor
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly workspace
- Assist other store employees as needed
Requirements:
- Good communications and interpersonal skills
- Enthusiastic and energetic; positive attitude, self starter
- Team player with the ability to work independently
- Reliable, dependable, conscientious; clean background check
- A good eye for detail; able to differentiate between colors, merchandise styles and sizes
- Ability to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy
- Basic arithmetic, computer and data entry skills
- Ability to read and comprehend computer-generated packing slips and inventory reports, and the ability to learn new skills on the job
- Ability to match packing slips with shipped product and identify any errors or quality issues
Physical requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, and lift up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent arm and hand movements, including the use of tools such as tagging guns, shirt folders, and box cutters.
- Frequent lifting of boxes.
- Ability to differentiate colors.
